About
Our first glance falls on two paintings by Dorota Dąbrowska, a prematurely deceased Wrocław artist and student of Konrad Jarodzki -“Bath” (2006) and “Geographer in the Botanical Garden” (2004). These are representational works, yet they possess a completely distinct aesthetic and color palette - muted, dominated by greys and other subdued tones. One can clearly see the painter’s own world and her unique artistic vision - exceptionally skilled and individual in her search to create her own reality. This becomes the center and, in a sense, the keystone of this edition of the painting meetings at Plac Solny.
To the left are the explorers of non-obvious spaces - perhaps it would be more accurate to say, of their own inner worlds. Three distinct visions, three distinct aesthetics that I will not attempt to describe - Sylwia Mucha, Kamil Moskowczenko, and Łukasz Huculak.
On the opposite side, we find the gaze, often quite literal, from the paintings of Jacek Wiącek, Zdzisław Nitka, Czesław Wiącek, Kuba Leniart, and Kinga Flasza. To this group, one can naturally add the works of the previously mentioned Dorota Dąbrowska. Completing the exhibition is Waldemar Zamorski’s sculpture - a seated, contemplative woman with a cat.
All participants in this presentation come from the Wrocław art community, clearly demonstrating its diversity and the multidirectionality of its artistic explorations. What is revealed here is the variety of artistic attitudes and the many possible languages of painterly expression. There is no dominant aesthetic - there is freedom and independence in exploration.
Spójrz-my! or Let’s look! is an invitation to see - to take pleasure in the exchange of gazes that emerge from the paintings, linger upon them, and become captured within them.
