Michał Misiak (born 1973) – One of the most intriguing contemporary painters working within the tradition of geometric abstraction. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He has presented his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions and is a recipient of multiple awards and distinctions, as well as a scholarship holder of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Michał Misiak’s painting is marked by exceptional precision. The geometry in his works takes the form of rhythmic lines. The very process of creating the painting is crucial in his practice—it becomes an attempt to convey the specific mental state the artist enters during work. His paintings emerge through a meditative act of layering lines, one after another.
