The first exhibition in the new mia ART GALLERY space!
After two months of preparations and reorganisation, Wrocław’s mia ART GALLERY, opened in October 2012, is returning to exhibitions. The new location will be inaugurated with the presentation of the works of one of the best-known Polish comics creators, Michał “Śledziu” Śledziński. Join us for the opening of the exhibition on the 18^th of July 2013 at 7 PM, at Czysta 4 in Wrocław!

Comic book plots and their mysterious characters will take over the art gallery in an unusual way, pulling the viewer into the world of the figures both in Śledziński’s head. “Inside the Panels” is a presentation of Śledziu’s latest works, as well as character created especially for the exhibition – including the Shady Type, a battle stork, the story of a rabbit searching for a green jug, and a cartoon from the life of the illustrator. In order to bring the comic book closer to the viewers and to show how and where they are created, the artist will move his artistic work space into the gallery and thus invite us into his own world. It will be a unique opportunity to explore the idea of creating comics and the unusual atmosphere that surrounds the process of drawing further panels.

The open-admission “Inside the Panels” vernissage will take place at mia ART GALLERY on the 18^th of July (Thursday, at 7 PM). Comic connoisseurs will be happy to see a specially-published artbook (50 copies, available for purchase starting on the day of the opening at mia gallery) and a series of limited, signed and numbered prints (150). The author will also conduct open comics creating workshops at the gallery on the 20^th of July 2013 (details and registration at www.allthatart.pl).

The exhibition “Inside the Panels” is the result of the cooperation of the All that Art! Foundation and the ALIAS Foundation.

Michał “Śledziu” Śledziński – comics artist and writer. Born in 1978 in Bygdoszcz, raised in Szwederów, currently living in Warsaw. He got his start in games magazines (Secret Service, Gambler, Świat Gier Komputerowych), where he shone with a series of short comics from the Fido & Mel series, and the creation of the zine Azbest. In late 1999, along with a group of artists from Bydgoszcz, he created Produkt, a comics magazine (1999-2004), of which he was editor-in-chief.

He is the author of award-winning albums in the Na szybko spisane [Written Quickly] series, the comedy mini-series Wartości rodzinne [Family Values], the infamous webcomic Bears of War, the co-author of the Na Jedno Pub series (script, sketches: Karol “KRL” Kalinowski). His work has been published in comics anthologies, he has created drawings for advertising campaigns and for the press. Śledziu’s best-known series – Osiedle Swoboda [The Swoboda Estate] has seen its continuation in a full-colour miniseries and two collected editions, a shower of awards, a sizeable group of fans and one enemy.
