We invite you to the opening of the competition exhibition, which will take place on May 24 at 7:30 pm at mia ART GALLERY.
This year's Attitudes is the tenth anniversary edition of the competition.
In 2013, Professor Wojciech Pukocz, then Dean of the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture and now Rector of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, initiated the student competition Attitudes. The main purpose of this event was to recognize the best artistic attitude among the students of the Faculty of Painting.
The result was a review of painting works, which was dedicated exclusively to a narrow group of people studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. This project differed significantly from other initiatives of this type, as by design it was not the students who applied to take part in the review. Professors in charge of painting studios were nominated to participate. This formula gave the Attitudes the character of an elite, intimate and unconventional competition.
Throughout the successive editions of the competition, the jury, composed of artistic people associated with the Academy of Fine Arts, as well as from the Wroclaw and all-Poland artistic community, and representatives of cultural institutions, has singled out the most promising paintings, which today find success on the art exhibition market in Wroclaw and beyond.
During the nine editions of the Attitudes competition, students have had the opportunity to present their works in various exhibition spaces in Wroclaw, such as Gallery M at Jatki, Browar Gallery at Browar Mieszczanski, Innovation Center Gallery at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw and Socato Gallery. Since the 6th edition, the Academy has partnered with a renowned Wroclaw gallery with a strong presence - mia gallery, where the competition exhibition has been held ever since. As in previous years, the aim of this year's Attitudes is to search for and identify the most fascinating, promising and mature artistic personalities operating in the field of contemporary painting. The Attitudes competition also becomes a kind of indicator of the condition not only of young Wroclaw painting, but also of the general state of artistic higher education.
