On May 30 at 6:00 PM, Mia ART GALLERY will open Attitudes, a post-competition exhibition presenting a cross-section of works by students of the Painting Department at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. This year marks the 11th edition of the competition, held in a refreshed format: for the first time, participants were able to submit their works independently, without prior nomination from faculty members.
Out of nearly 50 submissions, seventeen finalists were selected. The exhibition features a diverse range of works – from traditional oil and acrylic paintings to experimental pieces, including those incorporating textile art. The themes vary widely, encompassing personal and feminist narratives, political issues, and abstract explorations of spirituality and complex physical processes.
The Grand Prix – a solo exhibition at Mia ART GALLERY – will be awarded by a jury composed of notable figures from the art world: Piotr Sarzyński (Polityka), Joanna Synowiec (BWA Wrocław), Kasia Kmita (painter), Alicja Klimczak-Dobrzaniecka (Format), Bogusław Deptuła (art critic and curator), and Prof. Wojciech Pukocz, Rector of the Academy.
A new feature of this year’s edition is the involvement of Katarzyna Wąs – an art advisor and consultant – who will conduct individual portfolio reviews during the exhibition. Her participation offers the finalists valuable professional feedback and insight into the expectations of the art market and collecting practices.
Attitudes provides a compelling overview of the current directions in young painting and the diverse creative approaches shaping it today.
The exhibition runs until June 14, 2025.
