About
Krystyna Cybińska. Artist, legend of ceramics, professor at the E. Geppert Fine Arts Academy in Wrocław. This year, she is celebrating the 60th anniversary of her creative work. An exhibition at the mia ART GALLERY, titled “Contexts”, will present the sublime ceramic forms captured in the embrace of original glazes. Their aesthetic mastery is highlighted by exhibition combinations, relationships of the shapes, their proportions, and mutual tensions. The gallery will host rarely shown and completely new works of ceramic art – the effects of the synergistic work of talent, imagination, innovative ideas, consistency, and years of experience and knowledge – in container forms: small and large, bowls, bottles, organic forms, vases, amphorae and garden sculptures, complemented by colours and the texture of the ceramics. As Agata Saraczyńska writes: “Professor Krystyna Cybińska has been a teacher at the Fine Arts Academy for many years, a tears and master of many generations of ceramists. Her decorative and completely impractical bottles, bowls and vases are spontaneous, masterful works of art, harmonious and comely. […] These are mainly containers, sophisticated formally, with proportional shapes and attractive colours. They do not have to serve a purpose, but are the quintessence of elegance and beauty, which has been noted by juries in many prestigious global competitions for many years.”* Krystyna Cybińska not only created a unique style, but also set new directions for successive generations of ceramists, proving that ceramics has, in addition to a utilitarian aspect, an extremely artistic, volatile and incredibly poetic side.
