ADAGIETTO
Counterpart to the poster of the jubilee edition of the Wratislavia Cantans Festival
Adagietto is a tribute to nature and music – the artist’s two great passions. In specific thickets, created through delving into the layers of structural paintings, Lev Stern paints mystical, enigmatic worlds.
Compact, precisely centripetal compositions simultaneously never come to an end… The ascetic, contrasting luminosity of the palette evokes associations with the works of the Old Masters. Repetitions of motifs draw the viewer ever deeper.
There is music of the world here, and the all-encompassing presence of nature. Within the thickets, recognizable forms emerge, opening the viewer’s “third eye” – leading them, deeply moved, along their own personal path of comparisons and poetic analogies. Perhaps it is there that they may encounter the artist himself, listening intently to Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, wandering amidst the forest of artistic enchantments.
Lev Stern – born in 1945, a Polish-Israeli artist. Architect, urban planner, sculptor, painter – a citizen of the world.
