The "Attitudes" Painting Competition Group Show

the opening of the exhibition: March 1st, 6 p.m., mia ART GALLERY (Św. Mikołaja 61)

The "Attitudes" ("Postawy") Painting Competition, organized by the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, is dedicated to students of the Painting Faculty, aiming to select the most interesting, promising, artistically mature works created in the painting studios of the Academy.

One cannot submit his works for the competition himself – all the finalists are nominated by the head-professors of the studios. Each one of them can propose two names. The nominated students therefore become the official representatives of the particular studios, its programs and characteristics. The “Attitudes” Competition allows to take a closer look at the condition of young painting scene in Wrocław in particular, and at the Polish higher education in the field of arts in general.

The 6th edition of the competition follows the rules already known from the previous years: the students, nominated by their professors, propose two pieces each; during the official session the Jury of the competition chooses the Grand Prix winner, his / her name is later announced during the opening of the exhibition.

The 6th edition of the “Attitudes” is the first organized in partnership with mia ART GALLERY. The Grand Prix winner will be given the chance to present his / her works during a solo show in the Gallery later in the year.
